The
Community Connections Communicator October 2005
In this Issue:
The theme of this month’s
issue is Future Planning. There is a lot to consider
when raising children of all abilities. We want to ensure that they
are safe, happy, and well cared for. We often think about their futures
and what they would need to be successful. This is all relative depending
on your family’s values. So to help you determine what will best
empower your child’s life, this newsletter will lay out various
items to consider in planning for our child’s future.
Also, in light of the recent
tragedies of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the tsunami, and other life
altering events, this newsletter will also provide information on planning
for disasters. A number of organizations have put together survival
plans and tips for families, which we have linked to our newsletter.
In addition, there are ideas on how to talk to children about disasters
and how to help them cope with their feelings.
Take a look inside this newsletter
and hopefully it will help you to continue to prepare for your child’s
future.
